Introduce your students to Live Theatre
at our special discounted rate of $8 per ticket!

Educators can introduce their students to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts through the magical Starlight Theatre storytelling of two amazing shows.

Special matinee performances will be held exclusively for educational programs and school classes, and will run Wednesday through Friday at 10:30 a.m.

     

Student Matinees Enjoy These Great Benefits:

  • All performances are now on sale. Student groups are encouraged to book well in advance once the date(s) and performance(s) have been selected.

  • Pay later

  • Once a group has scheduled a performance, the Starlight box office will mail an invoice with reservation details. Upon receipt of payment, groups will receive paid confirmation materials including free resource guides, directions and a parking map. Payment is due in full a minimum of 30 days in advance of your performance date. Please note: After payment is received, there are no refunds, exchanges or cancellations on tickets.

  • Discounts

  • A special discounted rate of $8 per ticket has been reserved for the student matinee performances, allowing schools of every size and budget to participate in the program.

  • Complimentary tickets

  • Free chaperone ticket for every 15 paid tickets
  • Free chaperone ticket for every 5 paid special education students
  • Free chaperone ticket for each paid student who requires a walker, wheelchair assistance or other one-on-one assistance for special needs


  • Open Doors Transportation Fund

  • The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts’ Open Doors Transportation Fund will help thousands of kids from the Kansas City metropolitan area experience the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts each year. The Open Doors Transportation Fund will provide bus reimbursement to schools of all types and sizes to help minimize barriers to participation for their students. Funded through donations to the Kauffman Center, the Open Doors Transportation Fund is now available to help defray the costs of transportation to the matinee performances of Starlight Children's Theatre productions of The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley and Peter Cottontail III .

  • Ask about the opportunity for talk-backs with show cast members and crew. Availability varies, so please inquire in advance.

  • Student Matinees Details:

    Seating

  • Student matinee tickets are sold on a general admission basis. Once all schools have been scheduled for a specific performance, special consideration of class size, student age, physical and spatial needs and arrival time will be utilized to determine your group's seating location in the theatre.

  • Guest assistance

  • As schools arrive on the day of the performance, guest assistance members will greet your class at your bus drop-off location and escort students to their seats.

  • Lunch

  • Starlight Children's Theatre cannot store lunches.
