Starlight Theatre and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City are excited and pleased to present to Kansas City audiences the 2010-2011 Blue Star Awards Program. Heading into its ninth year, the Blue Star Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding achievement in musical theatre production and performance among high school students. The program's goal remains bringing together high school musical theatre programs in metropolitan Kansas City and outlying areas to recognize and celebrate outstanding talent among the area youth.
By participating in the Blue Star Awards Program, students receive feedback from working professionals and interact on a creative level with their high school peers from across the metropolitan area.
In 2009-2010, a record 49 high schools producing 55 musicals participated in Blue Star.

A LOOK BACK AT 2009-2010 BLUE STAR SUCCESSES
During the eighth year of the Blue Star Program, 49 high schools producing 55 musicals participated – all doing outstanding work in musical theatre. The 2009-2010 season came to a rousing conclusion on May 27, 2010. The ceremony on the Starlight stage highlighted the accomplishments of the 49 high schools that participated. Local arts leaders and professional actors and actresses, presented Blue Star Awards in 20 categories to theatre students.
Rising Star scholarships were also awarded to two students who were outstanding contributors to their high school theatre programs.
