Imagine the Possibilities
"For one hour, in their familiar, safe, comfortable environments, children are able to be on stage and 'star' in our show."
This June Starlight helped children and teens at KU Med Center and Kids TLC leave their troubles behind, if only for an hour. Starlight's "Just Imagine" brought a live interactive performance to some of Kansas City's most vulnerable kids.
"Just Imagine" is led by a troupe, made up of local professional actors, which arrives at host facilities with a trunk load of specially-designed costumes, props and a colorful backdrop to take children on a fun, fast-paced theatrical journey. Through the course of the show, audience members learn theatre terms, collaborate with the actors and get an opportunity to show off their own special skills.
"For one hour, in their familiar, safe, comfortable environments, children are able to be on stage and 'star' in our show," said Denton Yockey, Starlight Theatre's President and Executive Producer. "As parents watch their children smile, laugh, interact and perform, they're able to look past the serious issues their families face every day."
David and Darlia Morris provide major funding for "Just Imagine." To learn more about the program, including how to donate and/or schedule a performance, contact Amy Reinert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
