Theatre Education

Starlight Theatre understands the importance of combining the arts and education. Our vision, which we adopted in the late 1990s is: Starlight Theatre is the premier entertainment treasure of the heartland, where performing arts share center stage with education.  In building our arts education programs, we understand what national studies have consistently shown — that the arts provide an effective learning opportunity for students, yielding increased academic performance (including heightened standardized test scores), reduced absenteeism, and better skill-building, especially in the areas of problem-solving and critical thinking.  Driving our endeavor is the notion that when the curtain goes down on a Starlight performance, the impact we have within our community must resonate well beyond the final applause.

Successfully fulfilling this need will foster greater enthusiasm and support for the arts while at the same time cultivating and honing artistic skills and sensibilities among local youth.
