Adjudicators, who are theatre professionals, performing artists, designers and theatre arts educators, provide evaluations for all award categories. These professionals determine each season’s nominees and winners. Starlight facilitates, but does not participate in, the adjudication process.
Three adjudicators attend each participating musical. Adjudicators are paid per adjudicated show or student-submitted category. The needs of our adjudicator pool will shift from year to year, depending on show schedules and making sure the backgrounds of our applicants cover multiple areas of theatre (some with performance backgrounds, some with technical backgrounds, some with education backgrounds, etc.)
Adjudicator applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Submitted applications will be reviewed at the beginning of every spring and fall adjudication cycle. Starlight’s Community Engagement team will contact new applicants at that time.
