The heralded film adaptation of West Side Story premiered on Disney Plus and HBO Max this month after a run in cinemas late last year. Directed by the iconic Steven Spielberg, the new movie features a number of Broadway alumni including Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Brian d’Arcy James and many more. Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the 1961 film adaptation, returns to the screen as Valentina, a reconceived and expanded version of the character of Doc. A classic tale, West Side Story is the story of two young lovers Tony and Maria stuck in a feud between rival street gangs.
