2016 Concert Lineup is Taking Shape

Josh Groban: On Stage – Tuesday, Aug. 16

The sultry sounds of recording artist and entertainer Josh Groban will resonate from the Starlight stage on Aug. 16. Groban recently announced a 20-city U.S. tour in 2016 in support of his latest album, Stages, which was released last April and features memorable songs from several Broadway musicals.

In his first performance at Starlight since 2004 and his first return to Kansas City since 2013, Groban will be joined by special guest Sarah McLachlan. A three-time Grammy Award winner, McLachlan returns to Starlight after last performing here in July 2014.

The 1975 – Tuesday, May 3

British alternative band The 1975 will perform at Starlight on May 3 as part of a newly announced 20-city North American tour.

The headline tour is launched in support of the breakthrough band’s upcoming new album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. Scheduled for release in late February, The 1975’s sophomore album follows the success of its debut release that featured hits including “Chocolate” and “Girls.”

Tickets for The 1975 go on sale at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 11.

Duran Duran – Sunday, July 24

Music idols of the 1980s and multi-platinum superstars Duran Duran are embarking on a North American arena and amphitheatre tour that will find them at Starlight on July 24.

The band’s four original members – singer Simon Le Bon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor and drummer Roger Taylor – will tour in support of their newest album, Paper Gods, which was released in September and climbed to No. 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album chart. Also appearing will be the band CHIC, led by guitarist Nile Rodgers.

Tickets for “The Paper Gods Tour” go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12.

The Cure – Wednesday, June 8

The British rock band’s show at Starlight is essentially sold out, but additional tickets may be released at a later date. The Cure last played at Starlight in May 2008.
