70 for 70 Campaign

To ensure the road ahead is paved for success, Starlight is launching the 70 for 70 campaign as a challenge to find 70 members to join its Legacy Society in honor of 70 memorable years at Starlight.

Planned gifts can help Starlight when we need it the most. We’re all experiencing the difficult economic times right now, but thoughtful foresight from our legacy donors today will help ensure that Starlight is better financially equipped to handle any potential financial burdens.

Making a planned gift through Starlight’s Legacy Society devotes resources to preserving and enhancing this Swope Park treasure, ensures that lasting memories will continue to be made year after year and provides lasting support for Starlight’s important community engagement efforts.

Anyone that has made a legacy gift to Starlight can join, regardless of the amount of their gift. All you have to do is complete the commitment form.

The 70 for 70 campaign will last until March 31, 2023.

Legacy Society members will receive exclusive invitations to special donor events, including a celebratory gathering for all inaugural 70 for 70 members at the conclusion of the campaign. In addition, members will be recognized in Starlight materials each season. Legacy gifts may also lead to potential tax savings for you and your family.

The best benefit, however, is knowing that you are helping the Starlight tradition continue for generations to come.

Pending your gift amount, special recognition at the Starlight campus may be available

While there are many different ways to make a legacy gift, it doesn’t need to be complicated. See below for four simple ways to make a lasting mark on Starlight:

1. Designate Starlight in your will or trust.
Adding Starlight as a beneficiary to an existing will or trust is easy. Your bequest can be used to gift a dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to Starlight.

2. Make Starlight a full or partial beneficiary in your retirement plan.
It only takes a few minutes to include Starlight in your IRA. Simply designate a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your retirement savings to Starlight.

3. Gift all or part of your life insurance policy to Starlight.
Life insurance can be a convenient and easy asset to give. Name Starlight as a full or partial beneficiary of your life insurance policy. You may also be able to give Starlight your life insurance policy outright, and thus claim a deduction now.

4. Designate Starlight as a beneficiary of your Donor Advised Fund.
Work with a financial institution or community foundation to invest your funds so they grow over time and go to charities that you care about, like Starlight.

Making a planned gift gives you many ways to not only leave a lasting imprint on Starlight, but can also help benefit your family and save you money on taxes. To figure out what options would be most beneficial for you and to explore other possible planned gift options, we recommend consulting with your financial advisor.

Leave your legacy in a way that is most meaningful to you.

1. Make your gift unrestricted and let Starlight decide how to best use it.
2. Designate your gift to benefit general community engagement efforts, or choose a specific community engagement program to support.
3. Contribute toward an existing endowment fund.
