The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical has officially hit the road, having launched its national tour at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago earlier this month. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, The Lightning Thief tells the story of Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, and his epic quest to prevent a war between the gods. Hailed by Time Out New York as “Worthy of the Gods” this musical was directed by Stephen Brackett, the same director of the Broadway bound show Be More Chill, and has already earned three Drama Desk Nominations, including Outstanding Musical.

With songs like “Over the Rainbow,” “Got a Pair of New Shoes,” and “You Made Me Love You,” the show is aiming for Broadway and previously played Connecticut’s Goodspeed Musicals in 2016, before receiving an industry reading in New York City earlier this month. Carol Burnett Gives Moving Ode to TV in Golden Globes Speech
Earlier this month, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association honored the incredible actress and comedian Carol Burnett with a brand-new award in her name. The Carol Burnett Award for Achievement in Television celebrates outstanding contributions to television on or off the screen, and was presented for the first time at the ceremony this year. Carol Burnett has been a performing icon and household name since her namesake television show premiered in the late 1960s. Prior to being a hit television star, Burnett worked extensively on Broadway and in musical theatre, including a performance right here at Starlight in 1961’s production of Calamity Jane and again the following year to perform solo. We’re proud to be a part of Carol’s history and thank her for being an inspiration us. No one deserves this award more. Congratulations, Carol!
