Ain’t Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations has finished its final pre-Broadway engagement in Toronto, after making its US premiere last year at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, playing the Kennedy Center in Washington, and returning to Los Angeles for a limited engagement. Ain’t Too Proud follows the story of how five young guys from Detroit became international superstars and is brought to us by the same director from the Tony Award-winning hit Jersey Boys, Des McAnuff. Ain’t Too Proud features The Temptations treasured hits, including “My Girl,” “Just MY Imagination,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” and many more. Go Inside the Rehearsal Room of Clueless - The Musical
Talya Groves, one of Starlight’s very own Blue Star Awards Rising Star Scholarship winners, has joined the cast of Clueless, The Musical with The New Group in New York City. Brought to us by the same director from the 1995 film of the same name, Clueless follows Beverly Hills teenager Cher as she navigates the tricky social scene of high school. Talya, who has also appeared on Broadway in Motown and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, joins the cast of Clueless as Summer. We wish you all the best, Talya - Break a leg!
Director Bartlett Sher On “The King And I” In Cinemas
If you missed Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I at Starlight this summer, don’t worry! You have another opportunity to catch this critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater production November 29 and December 4 in cinemas nationwide. This beautiful musical revival won four Tony Awards, and tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna, a British schoolteacher whom the King has brought to Siam to teach his many wives and children. Starlight STARS Wrap Up Their Season
The Starlight STARS celebrated the end of a successful season in late October, wrapping up with a final master class and pizza party with program donors Howard and Ro Jacobson in attendance. The Starlight STARS program is an auditioned musical theatre training and performance troupe that provides professional training and master classes for high school students throughout the summer and early fall, with performance opportunities throughout the program. At the wrap-up party, Starlight’s education team presented numerous awards to the students, as well as two $500 scholarships to outstanding members of the troupe to continue their arts education.
