Applications Are Open for 2025 Internships
College students can learn the ins and outs of what it takes to bring live Broadway musicals, popular concerts, and arts education programming to Kansas City audiences through a summer internship at Starlight Theatre.
The students selected for Starlight summer internships gain hands-on, real-world experience as they work alongside seasoned professionals throughout our nonprofit theatre each summer.
Experience
Each summer, Starlight hires more than a dozen students and challenges them with hands-on roles and responsibilities in disciplines ranging from accounting and marketing to donor relations, operations, production, and more.
Access
Students build their professional networks while interning at Starlight. They help support our annual summer fundraiser, Starry Night at Starlight, which raises money to fund the internship program. Also, they participate in Q&As with Starlight leadership and connect with peers at companies across Kansas City.
Extras
It’s not all work and no play at Starlight! Interns enjoy social events, mixers with Starlight staff, networking events, volunteering, free tickets to Starlight shows, and other activities designed to build community and make memories.
Applications are due January 15, 2025.

“Apply right now! I would 100% recommend a friend to apply. I’m not into musical theatre and plays, but that doesn’t matter. My expectations for this internship were blown out of the park!! I learned so much this summer, all while having fun and building relationships.”
“You have the ability to explore a multitude of fields at Starlight, providing you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in diverse sectors. What I appreciate about this aspect is the chance to shadow various departments within Starlight, gaining insights into their operations and workflows.”
“I love the education focus of the internship, which I don’t think most internships offer. I learned a lot about myself and my career, both on a technical and professional level. I really do want to thank Starlight for seeing my potential and giving me the opportunity to work here!”
