On Saturday October 12, 2019, Starlight Theatre will hold its annual black tie benefit gala. This year’s gala is chaired by Bridget and John Murphy and honors the Elsberry Family with the Star Award for their leadership in the Kansas City community.
Celebrating its 33rd year in 2019, Starlight’s annual benefit gala supports the historic theatre’s education and outreach efforts, Broadway programming and theatre operations. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres under the stars in the Helzberg Garden of Stars, before moving to the Cohen Community Stagehouse for a delicious, multi-course dinner and program with live entertainment. Following dinner, guests are invited to dance the night away at the after party in Starlight’s Applause Club.
Each year, the benefit gala is an exciting night with performances by students who participate in Starlight’s education programs, like the Starlight STARS, Starlight STARS of Tomorrow and Vincent Legacy Scholars. Gala attendees are also the first to learn about the 2020 Broadway Season show line up.
The Elsberry Family will be honored with the prestigious Star Award for their commitment to Starlight and support of the performing arts in the greater Kansas City region. Since moving to Kansas City in 1991, the Elsberry family has embodied the tradition of Starlight through four generations of family members with memories of nights under the stars.
