Tech Theatre Training Program

Tech Theatre Training is designed to equip Kansas City area high school students with the skills and training that can lead to a fruitful career in the theatre and entertainment industries. Participants will be trained under the guidance of industry professionals and will be working hands-on in the disciplines of lighting, costuming, hair and makeup, scenic/set design, audio/sound, and projection/video.

Primarily hosted at Starlight Theatre, participants will also have the opportunity to visit and receive instruction from partner arts organizations. Program sessions take place over nine months, and the experience culminates with participants contributing technical elements during a performance, allowing them to see their training come to fruition on Starlight’s stage.

“Arts and culture organizations need qualified people to help create the performances that we produce. We all need a local technical theatre workforce that is ready and able to design, build, craft and create — to do all the important jobs that make collaboration possible. Local people are key to our survival and to our thriving.” – Partner Organization Participant
