Enjoy Activities Before Broadway Shows
This summer, you can have more fun when you arrive early for Broadway shows at Starlight! Special activities are being planned before Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Shrek the Musical.
Before every show of Disney’s The Little Mermaid you’ll find:
- A giant clam to take a photo with from our friends at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium!
- Giant puppets from the incredible StoneLion Puppet Theatre!
- King Triton’s Tattoo Shop so you can show off your undersea allegiance!
- A scavenger hunt throughout Starlight with the chance to win a prize at the end!
For Shrek the Musical, we’re planning to have themed lawn games on Friday and Sunday evenings.
Theme Nights
This season take advantage of any of our pre-show theme nights. Enjoy fun activities and great Broadway shows at a discount.
July 10 is Under the Sea Night
Dive into the magic of this Under the Sea theme night equipped with fun photo opportunities, games, face painting and more! This family event is fun for all ages before attending the beloved Disney’s The Little Mermaid!
July 28 is Fairy Tale Night!
Take pictures with your favorite fairy tale characters and enjoy a themed cocktail for purchase.
Step into the world of Far Far Away with Fairytale Night! Take pictures with your favorite fairytale characters and play medieval-themed games! Enjoy it with the whole family before attending Shrek The Musical!
August 7 is I Love KC Day
Join us to celebrate kindness, unity, and the power of human connection at “I Love KC Night!” Come From Away is inspired by true events, where strangers became friends and a small town opened its arms to the world. Wear your KC merch!
View a Latino Arts Exhibition on August 7
Attend a pre-show arts exhibition displaying local artists from the Latino community. Stroll Starlight’s campus and take in the many diverse talents KC has to offer! Afterward, enjoy the Broadway classic West Side Story featuring more local talent.
Take Off to Neverland on September 21
Join us as we soar to new heights and embark on a journey to the magical world of Neverland. Take pictures with Peter Pan’s sidekick Tinker Bell, get your face painted, and more before enjoying the magic of Peter Pan.
Dinner + Show(s)
Everyone is invited to participate in the pre-show activities and theme nights but adults may be more interested in the Applause Club. Enjoy Starlight’s sit-down dinner and drinks experience in the Applause Club. Reserve your space early and save or wait to walk in on show nights.
This year, diners can enjoy music on the outdoor stage in the Applause Club. Pre-show entertainment for Disney’s The Little Mermaid will be:
July 9-12 | Maryann Traxler
Maryann just finished playing the role of Anastasia at Theatre in the Park. She will perform her own Princess Medley each night.
July 13-14 | Lazell Williams, Steel Drummer/Vocalist
If you find yourself at Starlight for a concert, be sure to check out the Lounge. Enjoy a full bar in an air-conditioned yet cozy atmosphere where you can converse with friends.
Of course, there are the traditional concessions including a variety of food, lemonade, and Dippin’ Dots throughout the venue.
