Starlight Theatre recently welcomed back former students of the Bob Rohlf Internship Program for its first-ever Intern Alumni Reception. Many interns from throughout the years attended—including one from Starlight’s very first class of interns in 1984!
With more than 40 people in attendance on March 20, intern alumni mingled with one another, as well as with Starlight leaders, staff and members of Young Friends of Starlight. All enjoyed appetizers and refreshments while catching up on where life has taken them since their college summers at Starlight. The evening included a short program, with remarks from Starlight president & CEO, Rich Baker, vice president of education and outreach, Barb Schulte, former intern Paola Rivera and Young Friends of Starlight chair, Chelsea Chaney.
Starlight’s Bob Rohlf Internship Program offers college students the opportunity to work closely with professionals throughout our nonprofit theatre organization each summer. The students selected for Starlight summer internships gain hands-on, real-world experience as they contribute daily to the success of Broadway shows, concerts, education and outreach programs. Nine members of Starlight’s current full-time staff are former interns.
“We hope to grow this event in the future and continue to reconnect with alumni of the program,” Barb Schulte, vice president of education and outreach, said. “Our interns are an integral part of our theatre each summer, and we'd love to continue to foster their relationships with Starlight for many years to come.”
