In response to a national blood shortage, Starlight and neighboring organizations are gearing up to host a third blood drive on Wednesday, Dec. 9 and Thurs., Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
In partnership with the Community Blood Center (CBC), Starlight seeks donations to help the CBC reach its required daily donation of 600 units to meet regional hospital needs. To maintain a safe blood supply, a seven-day inventory of all blood types must be continually replenished. However, the local blood supply has not exceeded a four-day supply since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Swope Park Community Blood drive will take place at Starlight in the Applause Club, located on the east side of the theatre, and can be accessed through Gate 8. Curbside parking is available. Blood donors will receive a long-sleeved Chiefs T-shirt.
For the safety of all, face masks are required. Donors are asked to not attend if they are experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, a fever or have been diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 until 14 days after their illness has resolved.
Join the cause in Starlight’s final life-saving blood drive of the year by scheduling your appointment to donate blood at savealifenow.org/group and enter group code: EG9Z.
Appointments are strongly suggested.
