Renowned singer and actress Idina Menzel will bring her Tony Award®-winning voice to Starlight on Aug. 12.

Kansas City is one of 39 North American stops on Menzel’s 2015 global concert tour. She promises to lead audiences on a vocal journey of classic pop, musical theatre favorites and her own personal catalogue of songs.

Menzel’s diverse career traverses stage, film, television and music.

On Broadway, she earned a 2004 Tony Award for her role as Elphaba inWicked and a 1996 Tony nomination for her portrayal of Maureen in Rent. She currently stars as Elizabeth in the original Broadway musical If/Then, a role that garnered her a third Tony nomination. On TV’s “Glee,” she has appeared as Rachel Berry’s mother. The latest highlight of her recording career came in October 2014 with the release of her first Christmas album Holiday Wishes, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Holiday Albums chart.

The reason that Menzel’s popularity is probably at its peak, however, can be traced to Disney’s 2013 smash-hit animated feature, Frozen. She voiced the Snow Queen Elsa and famously sang the film’s Oscar®-winning and multi-platinum hit “Let It Go.”
