If the Shoe Doesn’t Fit, Bring It!

At the pre-show Fairy Tale Festival before each performance of Cinderella, Starlight Theatre is partnering with Operation Breakthrough to collect shoes for Kansas City children.

Everyone knows the glass slipper is pivotal to the plot of Cinderella, so Starlight picked up on the shoe theme with its “If the Shoe Doesn’t Fit, Bring It!” campaign. Guests attending the show this week are encouraged to bring new and gently used children’s shoes to donate to Operation Breakthrough. The organization has a collection bin at the Fairy Tale Festival.

Operation Breakthrough serves 400 children daily. That’s 800 growing feet!

“Keeping children in shoes that fit is a challenge for all families, but especially for our families who are living on average annual income below $13,000,” said Jennifer Heinemann, associate development director for Operation Breakthrough. “These donations are a blessing, especially with school starting soon. Our children need shoes that fit, and we’re very grateful to Starlight and its patrons for helping us keep up with their growing feet.”

There’s still time to help! Stop by the store or clean out your children’s closet and bring those new and gently used shoes to Cinderella at Starlight through Sunday night, July 12.
