Sara Bareilles & Gavin Creel Get Ready to Start Their Shift in Waitress on Broadway
Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles will return to Waitress on Broadway in early 2019 - starring opposite Tony Award Winner Gavin Creel. Bareilles wrote the music and lyrics to this Tony-nominated musical that tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. Creel has appeared in numerous shows on Broadway including The Book of Mormon and She Loves Me, and most recently won a Tony Award for his portrayal of Cornelius in Hello, Dolly!
Hadestown Will Sing Its Mythic Tale on Broadway This Spring
The new folk-opera musical Hadestown has found its Broadway home! Currently running at the National Theatre in London, Hadestown originally premiered off-Broadway in 2016 before transferring to Canada for a limited engagement. It will begin performances at the Walter Kerr Theatre on March 22, with an opening night set for mid April. Hadestown invites audiences to journey to the underworld and back, as it follows two intertwining love stories - Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone - in a deeply resonant and timeless story.
