Noda Knows It Pays to Renew Early

Longtime season ticket holder Noda Scherer of Kansas City, Mo., got an early holiday gift from Starlight Theatre in December. She won two free season tickets for the 2016 Broadway season!

By renewing her season tickets before the first deadline of Dec. 4, Scherer was entered into a drawing along with thousands of other early birds. The retired school counselor was the one who caught the proverbial worm.

Scherer attends with a group of 10 friends who have been coming for at least 15 years. Seated in Terrace section 5 for each Tuesday night performance, they are neighbors, church friends, Bunco players and Red Hat ladies who hail from Kansas City, Raytown, Lee’s Summit and Grandview.

Their nights out at Starlight ensure they continue to get together regularly. “We started coming in our late 40s and 50s,” Scherer said. “Now we are in our 60s, and Starlight is our summertime tradition. We really like the old-fashioned musicals like The King and I, but we definitely enjoy the new ones, too.”
