ONCE Joins St. Patty’s Parade

2016-03-15
CATEGORY: Broadway

Two months before the eight-time Tony Award®-winning musical ONCE takes the stage at Starlight Theatre, it will get its Irish on during Kansas City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Starlight and the producers of ONCE are collaborating with Cumulus Radio to re-create the musical’s Dublin pub setting atop the parade float of KCMO-FM on March 17. Kansas City’s annual parade is one of the largest in the nation, and this year’s theme of “Blarney on Broadway” fits Starlight to a tee!

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, Starlight and KCMO-FM will feature a text-to-win contest for tickets to the show.  A limited-time promotion will also offer “Lucky $17 Tickets” to interested buyers.

The first musical of Starlight’s 2016 Broadway season, the weekend special engagement of ONCE runs May 20-22.

Winner of eight Tony Awards in 2012, including Best Musical, ONCE  features an impressive ensemble cast of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage. The enchanting production tells the tale of a Dublin street musician who is about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs. As the chemistry between them grows, his music soars to powerful new height.
