In Starlight’s most recent Raise Our Voices performance, M’racle Bryant-Morgan dances in a moving number to “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo and Joshuah Brian Campbell. It’s a song that fills M’racle with strength, power and courage and those feelings resonate in the choreography, which M’racle created herself. She knows that we are currently living in a divided world full of chaos, but this piece made her feel unity and togetherness.

“In general, I want everyone to know that if we unified and came together despite our differences, life would be so much easier and better,” M’racle said. “If we were more inclusive and loved and respected everyone then we would feel free to be ourselves. Everyone deserves to be heard.”

M’racle’s drive and determination has brought her accomplishment already in her young career. She joined the Starlight family in 6th grade as a Starlight Stars participant and earned a scholarship for the leadership, commitment and enthusiasm she brought to the performance troupe. As part of Starlight’s Community Engagement programs, she performed in The Wizard of Oz during the 2019 AdventHealth Broadway Series, and in 2020 she earned a Blue Star Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in an Ensemble Role for Summit Christian Academy’s production of Disney’s Mary Poppins.

“For me, theatre brings me joy, happiness and positivity,” M’racle said. “Being able to pursue your passion and do what you love will make you happy and make your life worth living. Performing arts helps me see my potential and the feeling of performing on stage is magical to me.”

M’racle has kept busy even in light of the COVID-19 pandemic with dance activities, school and work pursuits, and has also made time for some soul searching. In that, the circumstances of the past year have simultaneously taught her to be still and relax. Now, as she approaches her senior year, she’s preparing for her future and hopes to attend an HBCU—specifically, Howard University. She plans to pursue musical theatre or news broadcasting. Ultimately, she just wants to be happy and live life to the fullest.

“I live by the words ‘Keep Laughing, Keep Shining, and Keep Being You,’” M’racle said. “To me, it’s just an encouraging set of words that helps me to realize that no matter what I go through or what happens in my life I should always stay true to myself and continue to love me.”

In addition to her commitment to theatre and dance, M’racle was chosen as Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Voice of Potential in both 2020 and 2021. She’s also dedicated to her platform, M’racle’s Amazing Mentors, where she promotes how important mentorship is in urban youth. She plans to continue to spread that message and hopes to reach others who are willing to help their community.

“I am very inclusive and try to promote diversity and unity in everything I do,” M’racle said. “I want to make a difference in the world and be an inspiration to all.”

You already inspire all of us at Starlight, M’racle, and we look forward to following your journey for many years to come!
