Starlight Supporting Susan G. Komen

In October, Starlight Theatre will support Breast Cancer Awareness Month during each performance of the Starlight Indoors show The Secret Comedy of Women: Girls Only. Each night, 15 percent of the value of tickets purchased using the code KOMENKC will be donated to Susan G. Komen of Greater Kansas City to help fund awareness and research for a cure for breast cancer. The Secret Comedy of Women runs for 16 performances October 11-23, including four weekend matinees.

Susan G. Komen® is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Komen was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life. Komen Kansas City is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community.

An original comedic variety show, The Secret Comedy of Women: Girls Only celebrates the honor, truth and humor of being female. This two-woman act, inspired by the earnest and sweetly ridiculous writings the two authors found in their own childhood diaries, blends sketch comedy, improv, audience participation, musical numbers and video. The result is high-spirited, good-natured humor and fun!

Lovingly intended for females only, each performance is highly inclusive. In fact, many audience members leave feeling they were truly part of the show! The producer recommends this show for ladies only, mostly those ages 12+.

The indoor show is seated in the enclosed, climate-controlled Cohen Community Stage House at Starlight, providing an intimate “black box” feel. A number of seating levels are available, including VIP packages that include valet parking and a free drink.
