An American in Paris Will Screen in U.S. Cinemas This September
Oui! It’s true - An American in Paris, which played Starlight Theatre as part of the 2017 Broadway season, will be screened in movie theatres September 20th and 23rd. Based on the 1951 Academy Award-winning film by the same name, An American in Paris tells the story of an American soldier, a mysterious French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. If you missed the national tour or if you want to experience this breathtaking show once more, now’s your chance to see London’s West End version streamed live in cinemas.
Starlight Gets a Visit From a Hard Working Dog
Starlight employees recently had the pleasure of meeting George, a comfort dog from Wayside Waifs, a local Kansas City area shelter. A three year old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, George recently passed all of his education testing and is currently making the rounds to various metro schools as part of Wayside’s “No More Bullying” Humane Education program. This hard-working pooch reminds us of a few of our favorite Broadway pups, like Legally Blonde’s Bruiser, Peter Pan’s Nana, and Sandy in Annie, among many others. Who knows, maybe George’s next venture will be to the Great White Way.
First Look At Sally Struthers In GRUMPY OLD MEN At Ogunquit Playhouse
Grumpy Old Men The Musical completed its sold-out North American premiere at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine, on September 1. Based on the 1993 Warner Brothers film, Grumpy Old Men The Musical follows two aging neighbors who have been feuding for more than fifty years - only for the rivalry to intensify when a beautiful and charming woman moves in across the street. The star-studded cast included Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sally Struthers and the Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor Hal Linden, in addition to plenty of other Broadway veterans, and was directed by Matt Lenz, who associate directed hits like Hairspray and, most recently, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
