Tips to Navigate the Weather on Show Night

Another season of Broadway shows and concerts has begun at Starlight Theatre, so now is a good time to review our weather policy!

Generally, all events are held rain or shine, with the exception of severe/dangerous weather. The following tips can help you stay dry and safe during your visit to Starlight.

Dress for Success: We encourage all guests to dress for potential weather changes. Umbrellas are allowed into the venue for Broadway shows but may not be used in the seating area. Umbrellas are not permitted for concerts. Ponchos may be purchased for $1 at Guest Information kiosks.
Check Ahead: If severe weather is in the forecast, check Starlight’s website and Twitter account for information on delays and estimated show start times. If you don’t see an update, the show is scheduled to go on as planned.
Stay Updated: If a concert or show is delayed due to severe weather during the performance, an announcement will be made via Starlight’s public address system to inform the audience what type of weather is occurring and what actions are required. Patrons may check Starlight’s Twitter account for updates as well.
Stay Hydrated: Summer in Kansas City can be hot and humid! Patrons are allowed to bring in empty or commercially sealed water bottles of 24 ounces or less and may refill them for free at numerous water bottle filling stations throughout the venue. Metal and glass bottles are not allowed. Commercially sealed water bottles may not be frozen when you enter the venue. Restrictions vary by event.
