Tony’s 2014 Best Musical

Looking for some musical mayhem to break up the dog days of summer? We have the show to lighten up the mood of mid-August!

Head to Starlight Theatre on Aug. 9-14 for 2014’s Tony Award® winner for Best Musical – A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder. Yes, there are a few folks killed along the way in this cheeky musical comedy, but the characters’ antics will leave you laughing, not gasping!

Gentleman’s Guide was the most celebrated musical of Broadway’s 2013-14 season. It received 10 Tony nominations and four Tony Awards. It tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession, by any means necessary. All the while, he has to juggle his mistress (she’s after more than just love!), his fiancée (she’s his cousin, but who’s keeping track?!) and the constant threat of landing behind bars.

Of course, for Monty it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance – and still be done in time for tea!

The national tour of Gentleman’s Guide is the fifth new Broadway musical making its Kansas City premiere at Starlight this season. The tour’s cast is led by Broadway veterans Kevin Massey as Monty Navarro and John Rapson, who skillfully transforms himself into all eight members of the D’Ysquith Family.

Two cast members with local/regional ties are touring with Gentleman’s Guide and looking forward to performing before friends and family members at Starlight. They are Matt Leisy who graduated from The Pembroke Hill School and Wichita native Megan Mengelkoch who earned her degree in theatre arts from Emporia State University.

Great seats are still available for all performances of Gentleman’s Guide.
