Three aspiring young performers were presented Vincent Legacy Scholarships on the Starlight Theatre stage Saturday, Sept. 9 in front of audience members gathered to see Grease. Recognized as 2017 scholarship recipients were (left to right in photo above) Carwin Cooper of Kansas City, Kan., Bianka Morgan of Kansas City, Mo, and Lauren Howard of Lee’s Summit.

Carwin completed 7th grade at Arrowhead Middle School last May, Bianka was a 6th-grade student at Kansas City Academy, and Lauren finished 8th grade at Bernard Campbell Middle School. Each received $2,500 scholarships to help fund professional training in the performing arts.

Carwin’s passion lies in acting; he has performed in several school productions and, last spring, played the role of Travis in A Raisin in the Sun at the Kansas City Rep. Bianka loves to sing and act and plans to use her scholarship to further pursue both interests. Lauren is a skilled singer, plays several instruments and aspires to study at The Juilliard School someday.
